Each headline is rewritten to say what the announcement actually means. Then we add exactly one sentence of context so you can scan a dozen stories in under a minute.

We never hide the original URL. Every item points directly back to the press release, blog post, paper, or event page it came from.

Curate and de-duplicate

We normalize URLs and titles to catch the same story showing up twice, then flag the most relevant items for the front page. The community can up-vote or down-vote vendor updates.

Our source philosophy

We pull from official vendor newsrooms, research-lab announcements, and established event calendars, not random aggregator sites. If a feed starts producing noise instead of signal, we reduce its weight or remove it. The goal is an easy timeline to get the pulse on the industry and direct links to read more in-depth articles.

Why did you build this?

Hi real, human here. I originally built this for my own sanity but also as an exercise to use AI to collect unstructured data. You will find some bugs and other sand lice, this is a one fisher person operation, so help report them and don't take it too seriously. Be kind and rewind.

What does The Daily Flop mean?

Flop, like a fish on a deck, fresh out of the water. It is a daily catch of HPC news, not a polished magazine or a press-release syndicator. But also Flawless Logic, Obvious Problem. Also Financial Loss On Paper. Bet you thought it was Floating Point Operations Per Second, right? No silly, that's flop/s, I left the S off and capitalized it just to leave you frustrated. Is tHiS wRitTeN bY AI?

Yes, and no. We considered calling this "The Daily Slop" but it was going to be too on the nose. Headlines and summaries are drafted by an LLM, then curated by a real fleshy human. Think of it as a robot deckhand with a snarky and tired human captain. What can I say, we've reached the dead internet. If they are going to write things with robots, then I'm assuming it was written for robots. I don't have time to read their slop, just give me the TLDR. This FAQ and the front page box is written by a human.

How do you pick what goes on the front page?

We crawl a list of sources, deduplicate, score snippets, then rewrite the most relevant items. An admin finalizes the top five and section layout each day. If you don't like it you can upvote things so they climb up to the top 5. If you still don't like it, I can ship you delectable gas station sushi as a small token of appreciation for your generous feedback.

Can I suggest a source or report a bug?

Yes, use the feedback box on this page or the suggest-a-source form. This is a one-person operation, so reports are genuinely appreciated. Seriously, this is the most sincere part of this FAQ.
